Social media outreach and research support — independent research initiative (part time, remote) Overview We are an independent research initiative documenting the lived experience of people rejected by automated hiring systems. We are building a public register of anonymous testimonies to support academic research and policy work on accountability in AI hiring. We are looking for a part-time freelancer to support our outreach activities on Reddit and LinkedIn, helping us reach people who have been affected by automated hiring systems and encouraging them to share their story. What you will be doing Reddit outreach Identifying posts and comments in relevant subreddits (r/recruitinghell, r/jobs and similar) where people have shared experiences of automated rejection Drafting personalised DM messages based on their specific post or comment for the convenor to review and send Monitoring responses and flagging replies that need attention Identifying new subreddits and communities worth approaching LinkedIn support Identifying relevant comments on posts and creating a spreadsheet/doc with links to the posts for review Researching relevant LinkedIn groups and communities for visibility Community and group outreach Posting to relevant Facebook groups, career communities and job seeker groups Monitoring responses and managing follow-up where appropriate General research support Identifying other platforms, communities and channels where affected candidates gather Keeping a simple log of outreach activity and responses What we are looking for Strong written English: messages must feel personal and genuine, not templated Some familiarity with Reddit and how communities work there Good research instincts: finding the right people in the right places Discretion: this work involves people sharing sensitive personal experiences Organised and reliable able to work independently with minimal supervision What we are not looking for Someone to post from or access the convenor's personal LinkedIn or Reddit accounts Generic mass messaging or spam approaches Content creation or graphic design Hours and rate Flexible, approximately 5 to 10 hours per week to start.
